What is Outlook Error Code 0x8004010f?

Microsoft Exchange Server enables you to send or receive mails by using outlook as a mail Client and it stores all its data in OST file when it is configured with Exchange Server. Proper synchronization is required between Exchange Server and Outlook to access mailbox, if any how your outlook is unable to connect with Exchange Server then outlook shows a most common outlook error code i.e. "0x8004010f" with the error message given below.

"0x8004010f": - Outlook data file can't be accessed.

"0x8004010f": - The operation failed as an object not found.

Causes of Occurrence this Error

There is several reasons due to which outlook shows error message, most common reasons are given below.

  • OST file is unavailable or corrupted.
  • Information store is not assigned to valid ID, so it shows nothing to download.
  • Multiple OAB file version exist of the same type.
  • Object is either missing or incorrect in OAB file list.
  • When a client want to download that OAB file which do not received the replicated updates.
  • When profile is incorrectly configured.
  • When client access the offline address book to perform Send/Receive operation.

Note: - OAB (offline address book) used my Microsoft outlook client in Cached Exchange Mode for address book lookups when offline and it also reduces the workload of server.

Steps to Deal with Exchange Error 0x8004010f

Step 1: -Tracking the Location of default Outlook data file.

  1. Go to Start >> Click Control Panel >> Mail.

  2. Choose the current Outlook profile and click on Properties.

  3. Within Mail Setup-Outlook dialog box, click Data Files.

  4. In the Account Settings dialog box, select Data Files tab and you can view the name as well as location of your default Outlook data file.

  5. Then Click Close.

Step: 3 Set newly configured Outlook profile as a default profile

  1. In New Outlook Mail dialog box, select General tab& select Always use this profile.
  2. From drop down menu of Always use this profile, select the new profile.
