Exchange Server ActiveSync Event ID: 3005

This event 3005 implies that this problem in Exchange 2003 is causing ActiveSync process to fail. The status code of HTTP as shown in the figure above indicates that there is error in Exchange mailbox server.

Some of the symptoms of this error that user might experience are as:

  • Users may receive sync error when they have tried to sync calendar items to mobile.
  • Still, after the synchronization process, users are unable to view calendars on their mobile devices.

The main causes for all these symptoms of the event 3005 are:

  • This might be the problem that any of the files of virtual directories is damaged that is used by Exchange Active Sync.
  • The Users who are running the Exchange server 2003 SP2 have not configured Security settings properly for their environment.
  • Or, it might be the probability that the UrlScan Tool is creating problem in the process of synchronization of calendar items.

Resolutions

For resolving this error, users need to take the following steps:

  • First of all, go for the deletion of virtual directories which is used by the Active Sync. After deleting the directories, recreate it.
  • In case, if you have Exchange Server 2003 SP2, go for the check of Security settings, whether you have configured settings properly for your devices or not.
  • Also, check for the settings properly if you are using UrlScan Tool. It is recommended to configure the tool properly before using it.
  • If all these procedure do not help the users in solving the issues, it is recommended to move the user's mailbox as described in the event figure above to some other different computer running Exchange Server.
